Metformin is mainly use to treat type 2 diabetes to controlling high blood sugar helps to prevent another disease like kidney damage, blindness, nerve problem ,sexual function and loss of limbs.
Decrease glucose absorption form GI tract.

Metformin is the drug use to treatment of type 2 Diabetes or Non insulin dependent diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is that condition in body can not process the insulin hormone

Glucophage XR :500 mg once/day in night.
Fortamet :500-1000 mg once /day.
Glumetza:1000 mg once/day

Metformin and phenformin is comes under Biguanides classification of diabetic.
